Another year
and another first place finish. That was the case Monday Night as the Dalhousie
Dodger defeated the Beresford Aces 11-1 to capture their Second Consecutive
R.C.I.B.L Regular Season Pennant.
The Dodgers
started the game trailing 1-0 until tying it up in the bottom of the second. In
the third Cory Zakrevsky would drive in what would become the games winning run
with a two run double. The Dodgers bats came alive after that as they scored seven
runs in a spam of five innings to stop the game in the fifth inning. Justin
MacCurdy, Andrew Carter, Mike Marcello and Roger Hickey all contributed key
hits for the squad with Serge Lebel pitching five innings allowing only one run
for the win.
With the win
the Dodgers clinched their second consecutive regular season championship
finishing one game ahead of Bathurst in the regular season standing. Coach Jason
Rae said, “It is a nice accomplishment for our ball squad. At the beginning of
the year people doubted the team because of the players we lost during the
offseason. Even with a slow start we were able to come together and gel at the
right time. Our focus now turns to the League championship”.
The Dodgers will
begin their playoff series Thursday night as they take on the Beresford Aces.
Game one of the best of five series will be at 8:00pm at Dodgers field in
Dalhousie, Weather permitting.
