Dodgers season comes to an end

With high expectations going into the playoffs, The Dalhousie Dodgers found themselves on the losing end Sunday night ending their season. With a base loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning The Atholville Cardinals finished off a three games to one series victory over the Dodgers eliminating them from the Playoffs. In what was a close game, Luc Fallu and Andrew Carter went complete games for their respective sides. Back and forth the whole way through, Atholville pushing it to extras it in the bottom of the seventh with two out single.

The contest was also heated between the two teams as the benches cleared during the seventh when Dodgers Catcher Cory Zakrevsky was run over at home plate making a play. No punches or ejections were made over the incident; however this was controversial call by the games head Umpire, as contact with a catcher according to the Baseball NB rulebook is automatic ejection.

With the Win, Atholville now guarantees themselves an appearance in the Intermediate Provincials either A or B September 2-4 in Chatam Head or Caraquet. With another season in the books Dalhousie heads back to the drawing board to regroup and aim for next season.
